Record the year, set, subject, card number, parallel or variation, language, grading company, numerical grade and certification number. Photograph the front, back, label, seams and any holder damage.

Category-specific checks

• Player demand can be volatile.
• Condition premiums can be steep on modern chrome cards.
• Use recent completed sales, not peak-era headlines.

How to compare sales

Use completed transactions for the same card, grading company and grade. Separate best-offer listings, auctions, bundled lots, mislabeled cards and outliers. Population data can add context, but it is not a count of cards available for sale.
